Pigneto is an area close to San Lorenzo. It is far less well off. There are some large commissioned murals there, however they feel as though they have been imposed on the neighbourhood.
In fact a statement on a wall says "muralisation = gentrification", indicating that the works are not the work of local artists, and that the projects are now resented a little. Interesting contrast to the art in San Lorenzo which is so organic and integral to the area.
We had a long list of art to see, but we abandoned the excursion because we felt uneasy and out of place
